Brampton is where most of Peel’s new freehold homes are being built: towns and semis in the northwest around Mount Pleasant and Mayfield, detached homes on the Castlemore and Vales edges, and a growing number of mid-rise condos near GO stations and along Queen Street.

It’s a young city — the median age is well below the Ontario average — with large households, a strong second-unit culture and some of the GTA’s longest commutes. New homes here are often bought with a legal basement apartment in mind, so builders increasingly offer side entrances and second-unit-ready layouts.
